A visit to the ALPENZOO is a special experience at any time of year! Almost all animal species can also be seen in winter, as only the marmots, reptiles and amphibians sleep through the cold season. Most young animals are born in the ALPENZOO from April to June, with ibex, chamois and roe deer born in May to June

The Alpenzoo is easy to reach, whether on foot, by public transport or by car. Here, you will find all important information on how to find us:

The Alpenzoo is a 20-minute walk from Innsbruck’s historic city centre.

Combi-ticket is available at the valley station of the Hungerburgbahn (Congress Innsbruck) Show your car park ticket when purchasing the combined ticket.

The car parks at the Alpenzoo are subject to charges: daily (Monday - Sunday, public holidays) from 9.00 am - 7.00 pm. For the first 3 hours you pay EUR 50 cents per half hour, each additional half hour costs EUR 1.

On some weekends and public holidays the car parks can be very full. Please use the “Hungerburg” cable car and the “W” bus line to get there. These alternatives are particularly suitable for coach groups!

Access to the car park is only possible for coaches up to 8.5 m overall length!

The “W” bus line takes you from the market square directly up to the Alpenzoo

Dogs

Unfortunately, we do not allow dogs. Assistance dogs must be registered with ID at the ticket office.

Playground

The internal Alpenzoo playground is closed.

Accessible

Access to the Alpenzoo is largely barrier-free. We are committed to making access to the Alpenzoo as barrier-free as possible: at the Alpenzoo, we have wide paths throughout and several accessible enclosures and aviaries.

The lower zoo area can be easily accessed and experienced with a wheelchair, for example. In the zoo’s upper zone, however, some paths are steeper and only accessible for disabled people with assistance.

Assistance dogs (with ID, vaccination card and identification blanket) are exempt from the ban on dogs being allowed into the zoo. The following vaccinations are mandatory for assistance dogs at the zoo: rabies, distemper, parvovirosis, leptospirosis and contagious hepatitis (HCC). The valid vaccination card must be presented at the ticket desk. There are disabled toilet facilitie.
