Common raven
Worshipped as a bird of the gods and bearer of truth, and slandered as a bird of death, robber and plunderer of nests, man has pursued the common raven right up to the present day. The fact that it was not wiped out is due to its intelligence and ability to learn. Nobody finds a carcass so quickly; even vultures and foxes follow its flight. It is also a clever hunter that overpowers its prey with welldirected strokes of its powerful beak. It learns the feeding techniques of its own species by observing them. Its adaptability allows it to utilise a wide variety of habitats and food sources. The largest corvid is also the largest representative of the songbirds! It has a sound collection of individually learnt calls and sounds, into which environmental sounds and human words are also incorporated. When common ravens mate, they even learn the calls of their partner. Mating already takes place in young birds, after which they remain together for the rest of their lives. Such loyalty is rare in the animal kingdom!
