Lecture at the Alpine Zoo: Grouse - survival artists in the mountains (23.9.25)

How do grouse manage to survive in the cold and extreme habitats of the Alps? As part of an exciting presentation, you will get to know the four grouse species native to the Alps and learn about the ingenious tricks they use to adapt to their habitats - from snow caves and "snow shoes" to perfect camouflage plumage.

At the same time, we take a look at the challenges faced by these special birds: Habitat loss, leisure activities and climate change are putting them under pressure. Our guest speaker Elena Weindel, an expert on grouse at the Bavarian State Ornithological Institute, explains why their protection is so important and how everyone can contribute.
