FISH
In the world's largest cold-water aquarium 50 alpine fish species, some of which are extremely rare, are kept in landscape tanks. The 17 show tanks, ranging from 80 litres to 14,000 litres, are thematically structured and the inhabitants of certain types of water are presented. The temperature is lowered to 4 - 6°C in the winter months in accordance with the conditions in open waters, rising to 16 - 20°C in the summer and even reaching 22°C in the Lake Garda basin with heating rods. In the Alpine Zoo we exhibit, among others, nase, pike, catfish, wolffish, nerd, grayling and brown trout. Fish are among the most endangered creatures, and many species have become rare or disappeared due to pollution and the construction of waterways. Several internationally recognised world-first species have already been bred in the Alpine Zoo Aquarium. In 2012, a large aquarium was opened in which typical fish species of the large Alpine rivers of the Danube system are shown. See the Video for the construction of the aquarium!
